Our commitment

Did you know that 1.2 billion disposable coffee cups go into our Australian landfill each year? Here at Pottery For The Planet, we strive to eradicate single-use culture and plastic waste through beautifully handmade and unique, high-quality ceramics. We believe, that single-use mentality is something that society has to move away from as quickly as possible if we hope to create a sustainable future for generations to come. Our mission is to innovate in order to bring new products to the market that will further reduce single-use waste across the globe. They are intended to create exponential awareness and inspire positive action as they spark the conversations we need to have in cafes and beyond. We do business ethically, sustainably, and creatively and our products are handmade with lots of love and care infused into each unique vessel.

Our Sustainability Framework

  • What is your company doing to reduce your emissions or combat key environmental issues (e.g. waste (packaging, end of life product strategy or recycling), biodiversity, land use, water, chemical use, energy use, and natural resource use etc.)?

Solar Energy We're using our influence and creativity to tackle climate change and make a big difference to your morning cuppa. We've got ninety-eight solar panels installed on our Pottery Studio in Noosa, harnessing enough solar energy to power the kiln and run the operations side of the business. This amazing technology has enabled us to now fire zero-emission products and expand our range with unique colour combinations - the Solar Cups! Packaging All boxes used for packaging are made from recycled cardboard, and wherever possible, all other packaging materials are reused byproducts from other businesses and consumer waste. We have implemented local initiatives to share, reuse, and repurpose packaging (check your next delivery for random materials!) Delivery By operating a wholesale model and consistently reassessing transport options, we provide the opportunity for consumers to buy locally and minimise freight packaging and carbon emissions.

  • How are the products your company offers made from environmentally friendly materials (e.g. recycled, organic materials)?

Clay is the only naturally occurring material being generated faster than humans are consuming it. All our glazes are created and mixed from scratch onsite, from natural materials. Our ceramic products are made from the Earth, for the Earth.

  • Do you partner with ethical factories that meet international labor standards? What processes have you implemented to make your supply chain more sustainable?

Our clay is locally sourced on the Central Coast of Australia. We also work with a small family pottery studio in a Vietnamese ceramics village, where the clay is sourced directly from the river banks the village is built on.

  • How does your company give back to the community (e.g. financial donations, volunteering, partnerships etc.)?

AMCS We are an ongoing Silver Corporate Sponsor with AMCS, donating monthly to their campaigns. In addition, we collaborated with AMCS to design the Turtle Cup in support of this worthwhile cause. $5 from the sale of every Turtle Cup goes towards supporting the projects and campaigns of the Australian Marine Conservation Society. Climate Council We're partnering with The Climate Council, Australia's leading climate change communications organisation, to drive climate action, educate people with accurate science-backed information, and promote solutions to reduce emissions. Plastic Free Noosa As a Noosa business, we're proud to support Plastic Free Noosa, a nationally iconic initiative by Noosa Council through Tourism Noosa in collaboration with Boomerang Alliance. We want to help in any way we can to make Noosa a single-use plastic-free community. For Plastic Free July 2022 we have supplied cafes from the local community of Peregian Beach with mug libraries made up of lidless mugs to drive community awareness on the issue of single-use coffee cups and provide them with a sustainable solution.
